Computer Issues

Mrs. Brown, my computer still was not cooperating, and it wouldn't upload any of my projects. I tried four different ones at school, and none of them worked. Hopefully I will be able to figure that out tomorrow. Thank you!

Last Post =(

Hey everyone! Since this is my last post for computer class, I'm going to make it a good one. I'm going to talk about what I have coming up for the rest of the school year. I'm really going to miss computer class because it was a lot of fun, and I have to go to Speech next semester. I'm not looking forward to this at all. The rest of my classes stay the same. Next semester, my gym class will get about three times larger, though, because we will get all of the sophomores that are in driver's ed right now and all the freshman in health. Cheerleading will continue until the end of February/ beginning of March. I will have track conditioning until the season officially starts, which is after cheerleading is over. Outside of school, I will be performing at March Madness with my dance classes at DDP, my dance studio. We have regionals in April, and then we go to nationals in July. I get my braces off in June (hopefully), and I get my license! I might even get to go to France in the summer. Well, I have a lot to look forward to after Christmas, and I can't wait for that either! Bye, everyone... see you in school!

Winter Scene

WINTER

There are many things I love about winter.I don't always love the cold, but I do love the snow. It's so pretty outside my house with all the trees, and I love to go sledding, build a snowman, and have snowball fights. Hot chocolate and eggnog are my favorite things to during during the winter season. I also love to go Christmas shopping. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. New Years, Valentines Day, and my birthday all occur in winter also. Besides these things, I have basketball cheerleading during the winter, which is a lot of fun. Hockey, basketball, and football are on television to watch and to go see. And, I love to ice skate. I love the whole winter season!

Newscast

Our Newscast project is going kind of slow. Kate and I laughed a lot, so it took an entire class period to say the whole script without laughing too much. It was fun though. We did our newscast about the election and the issues of the candidates. Hopefullky we'll get the Newscast turned in soon since it's past due, but it's pretty much done. We just have to put in more media. Right now we only have a picture of Barack Obama. It moves upward to this weird election music we found. It looks really cool though, so that's good. Overall, I don't think I'd be a good newscaster. I'm not a serious-enough person, so I'd start laughing or something.

Thanksgiving!!!

I have many things to be thankful for, and I often take them for granted. That's one of the reasons why Thanksgiving is such a great time of year. It makes us think about all of the gifts God has given to us that we often don't take the time to appreciate. The biggest things in my life that I am thankful for are my family, friends, and faith. Without my family I'd be lost, without my friends I'd be lonely/bored, and without my faith I wouldn't know God. These three aspects of my life are very important to me, and I couldn't live without them. Besides these, I am also extremely thankful that my family is financially stable enough to have the necessities in life, such as food and shelter, as well as some luxuries. Finally, I am thankful for the talents God has given me individually. There are many other things I am thankful for, but it would take a LONG time to list them all. So that's all for now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Invention

If I had to invent something, I would invent a tumbling machine. It would be flexible, but unbreakable. You would strap into it and program it to perform the trick you wanted. This way, you would feel what you're supposed to do, and your body would get the feel of the trick faster. Kids would be able to learn backflips much more easily, and maybe there would be less injuries also. I know how long it takes to learn new tricks in tumbling sometimes, so this invention would help me a lot. However, I don't think this invention would be possible to create. Otherwise, I'm sure someone would've made it already. Oh well. I'll just have to keep learning things the old-fashioned way.

I like this political cartoon because it's pointing out the fact that abortion is wrong, and the constitution applies to everyone. Life begins at the moment of conception, and by making abortion legal, the government has allowed for thousands and thousands of women to commit murder. I feel strongly about this issue, and I know that many Catholics, and moral people in general, feel the same way I do. I hope that in the near future, abortion will be made illegal, and all people will see how wrong it really is.

Inspirational

This picture is inspiring to me because it shows a beautiful rose living in the snow, when most flowers have died. Beauty always remains in some form, in all situations someone may encounter in life. It reminds me that when things may seem bad, there will be a bright side if I look hard enough. This picture also serves as a reminder to look around you as the days go by. Otherwise, if you just live life as it comes and never stop to look around you, something may be missed.

Podcast

I did my Podcast on The Ring. It's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen, and it has a really good story line. I also love the Sixth Sense, but I hadn't seen that in a while, so The Ring was fresher in my memory. When I recorded my Podcast the first time, it took me three tries before I got it right. Then, it didn't save, so I had to re-record it. That time I got it on the first try, so that was good. I put in a few sound effects too. I think the project was pretty easy overall. The talking part was more difficult than the computer aspect of it.

Lesson

When I think of life's lessons, one thing definitely comes to mind for me. It was in 6th grade at the Fall Festival at St. Phils. I was arguing with one of the guys in my class, Jake Williams. He was getting really annoying, and finally I just whacked him with my purse. Everyone thought it was really funny, so for the rest of the day, I just swung my purse at him when he said something annoying. This continued on to the next day, and it started to just become entertainment. Around the middle of the day, Jesse Mahrt told me to go hit Jake with my purse. I ran towards Jake, who was on a bike, and he rode just fast enough to avoid getting hit by my swinging purse. I went flying, and I landed on the cement in front of the church, with my arm crushed under me. I found out later that day that I had broken my wrist in two places, through the growth plate. I learned that day never to swing my purse at a guy on a bike, or it will come back to haunt me.

What I Wanna Do...

I have a lot of things that I want to do in my lifetime. To narrow it down will be difficult, but I'll try. So, when reading this, keep in mind that there may be things that I would rather do, but I just can't think of them at the moment. Well, here goes nothing. I want to (in no particular order):
1. Travel around Europe to France, Italy, Ireland, Britain, and any other countries on the way
2. Attend Notre Dame University
3. Go scuba diving
4. Write a book
5. Win a Nobel Peace Prize
6. Teach someone something truly worthwhile
7. Get married to my "one true love", and stay married to that person for all my life
8. Have kids and raise a family
9. Go to a Chicago Bears Superbowl, and watch them win
10. Ice skate on a frozen pond
11. Ride an elephant
12. Graduate high school in the top 5 of our class
13. Have a career that I love and that still allows me to take care of my kids
14. Play Free Bird (by Lynyrd Skynyrd) on my electric guitar
15. Meet Mark Buehrle, my favorite player on the Chicago White Sox
16. Own a little red car
17. Win "High Gold" at a dance/tumbling competition
18. Get my hair to stay perfectly straight for an entire day :)
19. Go to a really fancy restaurant and order the most expensive thing on the menu
20. Witness world peace

Report Card

I'm not nervous about my upcoming report card at all. I looked online to see my grades, and I have straight A's. My worst grade is an A- in Lit and in Driver's Ed. I know, Driver's Ed? But hey, those tests are hard. I'm done tomorrow though, and then I switch into gym. I think this quarter went by fast. It doesn't seem like we're a fourth of the way through the school year yet. I guess I've just been really busy... I think I strayed off topic a bit here. But it's all related to my report card in a twisted sort of way. Well, I guess I'll see you all later. That's all for now...

Peoria Logo

I liked most of the logos that the city of Peoria came up with for their choices. I voted for the logo that has red print stating "City of Peoria", and the word 'Peoria' curves. A small blue skyline is located over the word 'Peoria.' I chose this logo as my first choice because it is simple, but it still shows Peoria for what it is. We don't need a detailed, crowded logo, in my opinion. My second choice was the logo that said "City of Peoria" in black, and it had a colorful swirly thing above it. Personally, I don't think it matters that much which logo gets chosen because they were all good, and I don't really notice the city logo anyway. But maybe that's just me.

Favorite Halloween Costume

Wow, I can't even remember all my Halloween costumes. That's kind of sad... I just really have to think about it. I guess my favorite costume was my witch costume when I was about seven years old. I had a really pointy black hat with little gold stars on it. My dress was long and black, and it was different lengths at the bottom. I don't remember if I had a broom or not, but I probably did, being a witch and all. And I do remember my mom put eyeliner on me, which I just thought was the coolest thing ever. Oh, and my shoes had buckles on them. That was just the icing on the cake. I wish I was still so easy to please... :)

iPhoto

Hey everyone! Well, our iPhoto project is due tomorrow, and I'm about half done. It hasn't been a hard project as far as the requirements go, but it's been more difficult for me to think of pictures to look like the letters of my name. I still need a lot of pictures for my letters, I need to put them in iPhoto, and I need music. I guess I shouldn't have procrastinated so long. And right now, instead of posting to my blog, I should probably be looking for pictures and saving them to my flash drive. Yeah, I guess I'll do that instead. So that's all for now then. Wish me luck on finishing my project...

Newsletter Progress

The newsletter project is going well. My group is almost done. Right now, we are changing the articles to past tense because we typed them up before homecoming. We still have to upload a few pictures and finish the layout, but other than that, we're pretty much set. I liked this project because it was fun to work in groups for a change. I hope we get to do more group projects in the future, and I hope everyone likes our newsletter!

Physical Goal

This is an interesting topic for me. I tend to get hurt a lot, so first and foremost, I really want to stay healthy for cheerleading and track this year. Last year, I missed the beginning of track season because of a broken ankle, so this year I hope to be injury-free and help the team as much as I can. On a different note, I also want to focus on getting stronger. I will be able to tumble better and do more difficult stunts for cheerleading, and I will be able to run faster for track. So, guess I better hit the weight room...

Newsletter

I'm excited for our newsletter assignment. My group is fun: Evan, Kate, and me! We have some good times in computer class, and we work together well. I'm writing about the pep rally that's on Friday night. I'm a cheerleader, so I have the inside scoop about what's going to happen. It should be a lot of fun, and this assignment will probably be easy.

Intellectual Goal

For my intellectual goal, I mainly want to get straight A's. I know that may sound like I'm only interested in the grades and not the learning aspect of school, but I figure that if I get straight A's, I must have learned something along the way, right? In fact, I've already learned a few things, and we've only been in school for about five weeks. So, if I can get straight A's and keep my GPA above 4.0, then I will have completed my intellectual goal.

Emotional Goal

My emotional goal for this year is to grow stronger as a person. I really want to use all the gifts that God has given me to better myself and those around me. Sometimes it seems as if I worry about things that are out of my control, when I should instead be focusing on the things to which I can make a difference. Basically, I want to learn to trust that everything will always turn out okay in the end, and I shouldn't worry about the little things. I want to just relax and have fun.

Saints Project

Our next assignment in computer class was to make a PowerPoint of a saint. I chose my confirmation saint, Saint Elizabeth of Hungary. This project was easy since I already knew so much about my saint, and the most time-consuming part was finding pictures for the slides. This was the first project that I got done with a couple days before it was due. Usually I don't get done with the assignments until the day before it's due, or the day of. It was nice to have a day where I could just watch YouTube videos. I think I really like computer class!

Mission Statement Goal

This year, I hope to further my faith life by striving to be a better Christian. I can do this by paying close attention in Church History class, attending morning mass with the cheerleading team, and setting a good example for others by my actions. I also need to focus on paying attention to what I'm saying when I pray. Sometimes when I say the words of prayers that I've known for a long time, I don't really pay attention or think about the meaning of what I'm saying. This year, I want to focus especially on thinking about what I'm saying to God and being a good Catholic. Hopefully I will further my faith developement by following through with these goals.

Storyboard

Hey everyone! I'm still working on that storyboard that's due on Wednesday. Savin' Me has been pretty easy to find pictures for, but some lines of lyrics are hard to animate. I had to cut the song right before it gets to the guitar solo so my storyboard wouldn't be too long. I pretty much have all the pictures I need. Now I just have to add footnotes to tell what I am going to make the pictures do. The only problem is that I'm worried I might not be able to do something I said I would. Oh well, I guess I'll figure that out later...

Welcome to My Blog!!!

Hey everyone! I obviously just started my blog for Technology Applications class. The class has been harder than I thought it would be, but it's been fun. We're moving fast, and I've learned how to do a few things I didn't know before. So far we typed an essay about banned books, we made spreadsheets of movie release dates and SAT scores, and we started a storyboard of a song. My storyboard is on the song "Savin Me" by Nickelback. I absolutely love that song!! Well, that's all for now. See you all soon...
